I don’t speak French, and I say that emphatically. I lived in Paris for a year when I was 18 and developed a decent ear for the language, but the Parisian attitude towards beginners attempting their language deterred me from speaking it. After a number of disastrous, embarrassing, discouraging attempts, I learned to keep my American mouth shut.
The effects of not speaking the language of the country you reside in hit me hard. For many months, I was depressed, lonely, isolated. Imagine walking on the street with a fear that someone may speak to you.
I say that as a french person, your prononciation is absolutely charming, very clear and fitting your vocal style. Neither Edith nor Juliette had a typical elocution and we are very fond of an elegantly idiosyncratic phrasé down here. Birkin and Bardot had their own too for exemple and your accent isn’t stronger that (sic) Jane’s one. Also hearing the singer’s accent always feels emotional to me and lots of french people because someone making the effort to speak or sing in french for us is very flattering. I am not qualified to give real technical feedbacks but I thought you sounded absolutely lovely.
